Here we go! All the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni review. In a nutshell, this is a floor bot that will vacuum and mop both carpets and floors. But it goes beyond that. The all-in-one Omni station is more than just a recharging base; it’s where your bot will empty it’s onboard dustbin, refill it’s mopping tank, wash n dry its mops with hot water and warm air.
Then do away with that dirty water. We’ll see what’s new, what it can do, and how well it cleans, as We will put it through some cleaning tests. Plus, We will fill you in on a few surprising things it can do.

What’s new in Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni
Let’s start with what’s new, and the big story is hot water washing of the mopping pads. The Deebot T20 Omni can heat the water to 54 degrees Celsius or 131 Fahrenheit. So you aren’t just getting a light rinse on those pads; you are getting a smart way to kill dirt and banish stains. So you’re not constantly running dirty mopping pads over the floor. Not just hot water, the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni also boasts hot air drying. In short, think of the Omni station as a luxury spa for your floor bot.
Also new is the 6,000 pascals of suction on this bot, which is an update from the X1 bot, which already had a powerful and effective 5,000 pascals. That means you can expect this floor cleaning bot to absolutely inhale pretty much anything it rolls over. Now, what else sets it apart? Well, if you’ve done any shopping for robot mopping devices, you’ve probably noticed they’re mostly the same.
They use a flat mopping pad, which is really just a dampened rag dragged across the floor. But not this bot. Ecovacs has engineered dual spinning mopping pads made of plush microfiber that spin and scrub with Turbo Power Plus downward pressure, making this floor bot better able to scour away even dried-on stains.
Unboxing
There’s also now Auto Lift mopping, which the Ecovacs X1 Omni didn’t have. And this is actually a pretty big upgrade that we hoped Ecovacs would add. Auto Lift mopping means the bot is smart enough to sense carpet, and it’ll stop some spinning and lift the mops a couple of millimeters off your rugs to keep them dry.
But this also means there’s no need to remove the mopping pads for vacuuming, as you needed to do with the X1. Thanks to that Auto Lift mopping, Deebot T20 OMNI can swap between mop-only, vacuum-while-mopping, vacuum-only, and vacuum-before-mopping modes and clean everything in one pass—all without any help from you.
Now, that’s the news. Let’s get to the unboxing of the setup. In the box, there’s the sleek Omni station with clean and dirty water tanks under the lid. A sealed vacuum disposal bag has its own drawer. Then, of course, you get the Ecovacs Deebot T20 robot, plus two corner brushes, which you’ll just snap on. The mopping pads also just click into place.
There’s also a scrub brush and a multi-function cutter for any needed maintenance. Plug in the Omni station and let Deebot charge. Meantime, download the Ecovacs Home app and sign in or sign up for an account. When it’s ready, you’ll power the bot on and follow the easy in-app instructions to connect to Wi-Fi. Our bot was connected and ready in less than five minutes.
Setup
The first order of business is to let the bot map ur house. It’ll do this in one pass, as it did accurately for me, and it won’t take long, but it depends on the size of your home. With that map, you get all kinds of additional functions, like being able to clean only one room or to schedule certain rooms to be cleaned on certain days.
Plus, that smart mapping and space recognition, using realtime 3D scanning & detection, means Deebot can avoid objects and hazards like several other robots we have ever tried. we placed some tricky stuff in its path to see if we could trip it up, and the bot was always able to avoid trouble.
Cleaning test
Now, to the important part of this review: how well does this floor robot clean? we put all our robot mops and vacuums through precisely the same tests. we spread things like rice, flour, oats & cracker crumbs on both carpet & hard floors.
We will pour out some liquids too for mopping tests & let some things like coffee or wine spills dry out. The first time we sent the robot out, we asked it to clean the entire house, and we have to say we was really impressed with the job that it did. It vacuumed up so visible crumb & polished the floors to a gleaming shine.
We decided to move on to more dedicated testing to get a closer look at the T20 in action. With vacuuming, the Deebot T20’s powerful suction inhales everything it comes across on hardfloors. Some bots can scatter loose debris, but the T20 seems able to corral it & feed it into its onboard dustbin for later disposal in the Omni station. On carpet test, the rubber brush combined with that 6,000 pascals of suction is able to power dirt from deeper in the fibers. we was extremely happy with how well the bot vacuumed.
When it comes to the mopping, since this robot is powered by Osmo Turbo 2.0 rotating mopping system, it has an amazing ability to scrub dried-on dirt even in just 1 pass. Deebot applies consistent pressure to the mops, pressing them into the floor for deep cleaning & outstanding scouring abillity for even stubborn stains. We also tested the mop lifting capabilities, and we can confirm the mops did not dampen our carpet or rugs at all.
The Deebot T20 Omni recognizes and travels over flooring thresholds up to 20 millimeters or just over three-quarters of an inch, so it can get to areas a lot of other floor bots can’t, especially if you have a bigger space.
Battery
Running out of power before your clean is done is a real possibility. Ecovacs Deebot deals with this by using a large 5200 milliamp-hour battery and combining that with its recharge and resume feature. Now, this means the bot will clean until it’s time to recharge, essentially until it’s out of battery. It’ll return to the base to get enough juice to finish the job before it’ll head back out and finish.
Ask Deebot to clean. If you are a Google Home or Amazon Echo user, you can connect either of those smart home hubs to your robot and use your voice to task it with when and where to start cleaning. we found this connectivity worked quite well. You just need to connect either bot inside the Alexa or Google app first.
But now, Ecovacs goes even a step further here. The Eco Voice Assistant makes a return in this spot, and it’s as good as our first tests with it when we first tried it with the X1 Omni. Okay, Eco, start cleaning. Eco understands natural language and responds really well to commands.
It even has a really cool feature where you can go to a specific spot in your house where you need to clean, and using what’s called voice distance recognition, you can say, “Okay, Eco, clean this spot,” and Eco will know exactly where this spot is in your home because of that voice distance recognition.
Conclusion
Overall, the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni review is an impressive floor bot that automates pretty much everything. It not only vacuums and mops; it replenishes its water tank for mopping and cleans the mopping pads more effectively with hot water, then dries them with warm air too, to keep those odors away. Of course, the T20 Omni will also empty its own dustbin and refill its mopping tanks as needed and then dispose of all that dirty water. The all-in-one Omni station is beautifully designed too.
More pros: the Deebot T20 runs really quietly. It’s got even better suction power and long battery life. Plus, it thoroughly cleans both wet and dry messes on hard floors and carpets. When it comes to the downsides, we guess you could say all this technology is perhaps not surprisingly a bit more expensive than a simple bot. Another factor to be aware of is that the Omni station here does have a large footprint that takes up substantial space.
Even so, We are a huge fan of the Ecovacs brand because they build solid robots that work flawlessly, and they do what they promise. we can definitely say that they have another winner here with the Deebot T20 Omni, and we can absolutely recommend this as the best floor cleaning bot of 2023.
